I have a 73 Centurion painted Artic White.Would the value increase if I painted it the Original color of Poly Brown? And is there an advantage over original laquer paint vs urethane or enamle? Thanks Scott Cameron.

I donīt think that changing the color back to the original would increase the value.
I think that makes sense on really expensive cars like GSX, GTOīs, rare Corvettes and judged cars (bloomington.....)
Choose the paint you prefer.

If you are planning on a high end show restoration, then I would not even consider doing it in another color other than original. But for a driver quality car I don;t think color is a big concern. That being said, if you are going to choose a color other than what came on it, it should really be a color that was offered that year on your car. Your car being white would be totally appropriate as white was a color choice.

Changing the color of a car may lose some future potential buyers of the car if you go to sell it - I for one wouldn't even consider a color changed car no matter how beautiful it was - but on the other hand, if your car is an ugly color to begin with, a proper color change could substantially help sell-a-bility.

Confused?

Hi

I did not like my Centurions' original Colonial Gold. I chose a Cadillac color that I liked better. It's a personal decision. I don't intend to sell the car so resale value was not a consideration for me.

I doubt you would see an increase in the sale price of the car that would cover the cost of repainting it.

I suggest you go to some car shows and look at Buick's in the Brown color and decide if you like it more than the white.

I'd talk with a body shop to see what it would cost and what type of paint the like to work with. Each type of paint has strengths and weaknesses. You might also want to discuss:
1) how extensive was the change over to white? Did they do the door jambs, under the trunk lide etc.?
2) can the see signs of body work that might have been done when the color was changed. If so, does it look like there might be re-work required?

Good luck.
