This Nevada car was brought to GA for a parts car. I am minus the engine
and transmission, and front grill/bumper.
Hard top two door. I know there is one good passenger side door, good hood (and emblem) Good trunk, but emblem is not good. Interior is basically intact.
Let me know if you're interested in parts. The car is in Athens, GA.

Dennis, I would need some parts. I need the molding that runs along the driver side windows and holds the headliner up. I hope you know what I mean. If not I can mail you a pic. I also need the turn signal lever, the body side molding on the front fender (above the "Centurion" script) and if your car was eqquiped with I would take the power window regulators. (only the regulators, I donīt need any switches or wiring).
If your car has a good FM stereo or a 8-track I would also take it.
If you prefer I can also call you.

Peter, this car has manual windows. Will the regulator be the same? I think I have all of the other parts, but will need to go see the car this weekend. I keep it about 10 miles from my home at a friend's farm. I will take pictures and send them to you. The car does have a radio, but I have no way to know if it works.
Austrian455
01-08-2009, 08:42 AM
No, the manual regulators are not the same as the power regulators. My car also has manual windows. I want to convert them to power windows.
The radio is only of interest for me, if itīs a FM or 8-Track. The standard AM radio is not interesting for me.
If youīre going to see the car this weekend please check the front parking/turn signal lamps. I need the driver side lamp. And I would need a inside rear view mirror.
summary:
I need:
- headliner molding along driver side windows
- bodymolding front fender passenger side
- inner rear view mirror
- turn signal lever
- FM radio or 8 Track
- driver side parking/turn signal lamp
Thanks for checking the parts for me.
I hope you can help me out.

Hi Dennis,
I also need the trim from the front fender, just above the Centurion.
Since they are interchangeable from side to side, you should send the better of the two to Peter and I'll take the other.
If the rear quarters are solid you should definetely keep those. They are hard to find in good condition and the 2 door and convertibles use the same quarters.
Thanks,
John

I'll check and advise. You're right regarding the quarters and doors. I bought the car solely for the quarters, and may end up using one of the doors as well. I think I'll end up with an extra passenger door.
I'll contact you after I get a close inspection of the moulding you need. It will late Saturday afternoon likely.
Thanks

Peter,
Peter, I was able to get out to the parts car briefly today before it got dark.
Here is what I have so far:
The radio (see pics) is an AM/FM/ 8 Track (Pioneer factory install).
I do not know if it works of course. The plastic is a little milky, but can likely be polished.
As far as the trim molding, I assume you want the interior pcs? (they are green in the attached pictures. I also removed the exterior chrome pc as I was not sure which you wanted.
I will pull the mirror tomorrow and send pictures of that, I didn't have the right tools to remove it today.
I don't have the front turning/parking lamps, they were missing when I got the car.
Regarding the passenger side fender molding piece, I will have it off tomorrow.
Turn Signal lever- I have it as well, but will have to wait until tomorrow to
remove.
As soon as I can figure out how.. I will post many more pictures in an Album. However, following are the pictures of some your parts I've pulled thus far.

Dennis, I have two questions regarding parts which I donīt know how they are called; therefore I placed the questions into a copy of one of your pictures.
If they are of good quality and the part at the door also in the right color I would be interested.

Dennis, thanks for the pics.
Are you sure, that GM dealers installed Pioneer stereo as a factory option?
Donīt know.
Yes, I need the interior pieces. I just have to paint them to match my interior.
I donīt know how mauch work it is, but could you also remove the hood release handle?
The jerk at the body shop broke mine!!
Yesterday I checked my car if I need anything else. And I found something:
I need the corner of the lower vinyl top molding. (driver side)
I added some pics. One shows the broken one and the other shows the good one installed on the passenger side. Maybe you can also pull this.

Rolf, the upper door panels are green. However, I've been told they can be dyed. I will see the car again today and take some pics for you of both the door panels and the silver air vents.

Peter, I can't say for sure about the radio. But it appeard to be an original installation.
I will check the hood release handle and the trim later today and advise. Regarding the hood release handle, you are talking about the one on the inside of the car, not the one on the underside front end of the hood?

Dennis,
Did you document the car for the registry? If not, I hope you will do so while you can still identify how it was equipped as well as the original information off the body plate, VIN, etc.
If you need any helping doing it, just ask.
By the way, I am not aware of Pioneer radios being a factory option on Buicks. All used Delco radios, 8 tracks, etc.
.....And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I only need the black handle from the hood release.
I attached a pic of the rubber part I was talking.
Thats the "bumper filler" from the rear bumper.
If you have both sides I would take both.
heavycenturion
01-10-2009, 04:07 PM
Thanks for the picture, that helps. I can easily pull the black handle and will check on the "bumper fillers" and advise.
I've been awaiting a call from my friend to go to see the car. As soon as my friend gets home today, I will go pull the parts. If he gets home too late, I may have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to pull the parts.
I'll let you know once I have them all pulled.

Bob, you're probably right on the Pioneer not being factory. I certainly am not knowledgable of their practices during this era.
I will register the car as soon as I can. I've got the title, but no other literature. In fact, I need to register my 73 Cent convertible as well! I'll do them both at the same time.
Thanks!

Peter,
Here are all the requested parts that I have. I cannot help you with the
vinyl top trim piece, as this car does not have a vinyl top.
Shown is:
Headliner molding, driver's side
Fender body molding
Interior Rear View Mirror
Turn Signal Lever
Radio, 8 track FM AM
Hood release handle assembly
Bumper filler pieces, Left and Right
Please note the turn signal lever has some chrome paint flaking off the finish. That can probably be painted with chrome paint.
The mirror is in good working order, but the mirror glass will have to be "re-silvered" if you wish to use this. I've checked, and this can be done in the states. I'm assuming you can have that done as well in Austria. The glass can be removed, I've done it.
Please let me know which of these items you wish to purchase.
Thanks for your interest.

Well, I've pulled all the parts I have that you requested. I cannot help you with the vinyl top trim piece, as this car does not have a vinyl top.
Pictures attached of all items:
Headliner trim pieces, driver side
Fender body molding
Interior rear view mirror
Turn signal lever
Radio (8 track AM FM)
Hood release handle assembly
Rear bumper filler pcs
Please note, the mirror is in good working order, but the glass will have to be
"re-silvered" if you wish to use this mirror. This can be done here, so I'm assuming you can get it done in Austria. Also, the turn signal lever chrome paint is flaking off (see pictures). Perhaps this can be repainted with chrome paint?

Dennis, thanks for pulling all the parts I asked you for. I think I will take them all if we can find a price thats OK for you and me. But Iīm sure that wonīt be the problem.
Yesterday I saw that I need one electrical part of the A/C. Iīm sorry that I didnīt find out earlier. I think itīs something like a relay. You should be able to pull it without any tools. But I donīt know how itīs called. so I will pic a photo of the socket where it sat and a second photo where Iīm going to mark the position of it. So you should find it easier. Iīll post the pic today.
I hope you have the time to pull this last part for me.
Also I thought about the centercaps of the rally wheels. I donīt know if you want to sell them as a set of 4 or if you would sell them seperately.
And I saw that your car has a passenger side rear view mirror. Does the remote control for both mirrors work? If they do we could also talk about them. But I think I will call you today. So we can talk about the price of all other parts I want. And if I can afford it I will also take the center caps and both mirrors with the machanism.

Thanks, Dennis, for your pictures.
Today I phoned with some specialists regarding the door panel color change and they told me that they only can guarantee to get the color 80-90 % correct and that it would cost ca.100 Euro for 1 litre of color (they only can prepare 1 litre or more) and ca.200 Euro for the work !!! Thatīs way too much ! So Iīll keep on searching for a blue colored door panel. On the other hand my panel has some rips but is not totally bad so I can live with it.
I also asked for the possibility to recolor the silver to these plastic parts and they told me that this would be not such a great and expensive problem; they could do it for ca. 10 Euro each part. So that will cost nearly the same as your parts. Anyway, it seems easier to take yours but I must be sure that yours are still really good enough; I can not see that clearly enough at the pictures, so Iīll call you today regarding that question.

Rolf, if you decide to keep your old parts maybe I would also take the one Dennis parted out. Mine are broken.
Which parts do you mean, Peter ? Upper door panels or the air vents ?
I donīt take the panels b/c they are green and itīs too expensive to turn them to the blue I need and perhaps they wouldnīt match the color exactly enough.
If you want to get the silver air vents because yours are broken I could get my parts recolored and you could buy them from Dennis.

It is very difficult to manage good pictures of this mirror due to the flash!
I will do my best to describe. The mirror is in perfect working condition... all the wires and controller work as designed, nothing broken.
There is very slight pitting on the surface, but I would be glad to put it on my car if you are not interested. The pitting is so slight you cannot feel it with your fingertips. However, due to the pitting, I would sell this mirror to you for $35.00.
Hope the picts help.

Mr. Rolf,,,
The wheel caps on this car are not available. However, I rebuild wheel caps
when I can find old ones with good chrome. I'm sure I can rebuild you one or a whole set. See this album:
http://www.buickcenturion.com/forums/album.php?albumid=2
and this post:
http://www.buickcenturion.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6424#post6424
If you would like me to build you one or four I would be glad to. I charge $25.00 per cap if you supply the old cap, and $35.00 per cap if I have to supply the old cap (plus shipping).
In your case, I would think it would be cheaper for me to find the old caps here.

Peter
I've taken everything to the USPS and to UPS to get rates for shipping.
UPS wanted $113.00!
United States Post Office is the most economical.
Their best rate was $61.50.. average 10 day transit time.
for delivery within 1 week, USPS charges $74.00.
Which do you prefer?
As to payament method, I have a paypal account if that is ok with you. If not, do you have any suggestions.. I wouldn't know how else to do it.
Thanks

Dennis, sorry for the delay. I had to work overtime.
I need the turn signal lamp in the front bumper, not the side marker in the front fender.
I took 3 pics and marked the clip that holds the connector for the "relay" I`m talking about. Maybe you can find it.

Dennis, I received the parts today.
I can tell you one thing, it was better than birthday, christmas and eastern together.
All parts are exactly in the condition you told me or better. Thanks for the additional back plate and glass for the center caps. I was really suprised of the chrome on the outside mirror. Itīs nearly new!!
5 minutes after opening the box I had to call a friend of mine who knows the car since I bought it. When he saw all the stuff he nearly started to masturbate.
Now I hope that the snow will melt in the next weeks. We have about 10 inches snow around.
Because there is only one thing I can think of!! Cruising around with the new dual exhaust on, my Deep Purple tape in the stereo and the side windows low.
Thanks

Dennis, I got some PW regulators out of a 72 Riviera. So you donīt have to continue looking for them. But if you find any other nice "option parts" like Power door lock (complete with wiring...) or a complete cruise control, please keep me informed.
Did you find the A/C part I thought that itīs a relay. Now I know that it correctly called a thermal fuse for the A/C compressor. Maybe you can find one.
I donīt know if I forgot to ask, or if anyone else has asked: Is your parts car equipped with a Posi rear ???

Glad to hear about the Power Window Regulators! As to the thermal fuse, I have not found one yet, but am confident I will. I'll keep you posted on that.
The rear end is NOT a Posi.. wish it were I'd put that bad boy in my car.
Good hearing from you. I'll redouble my efforts to find the thermal fuse. and advise.

Thanks for your efforts on finding a thermal fuse for me.
If you find one, you can be sure, every time I turn on the ice cold blowing A/C (hope so ;) ) I will think of the you. The man who made it possible to be real cool in summer. ;)

Dennis,
How are you?
I would need some parts again.
I would need all clips and stuff that hold the rocker panel moldings.
Do you still have them?

Peter,
Sorry, I don't have those. My originals were rusted, so I will need the ones from the parts car. If I see any, I will keep you in mind.
Hope you are doing well!

Dennis, thanks for the fast answer.
Iīm fine.
Could you take some pics of the rocker hardware?
It would help me to see them on the car.
Because the bodys shop who did the paint job on my car removed
all the clips and lost them. So I donīt know where they were or how they looked like.

Peter,
Oh! I was thinking of the trim that holds the trim on the fenders (front and rear). Those are metal and I need them, as my originals were rusted out.
I went down to look at my original clips for the rocker molding, and they are plastic! I honestly don't know if they are the same on the parts car, but I will check it out in a day or so and let you know. If they are there, I will be glad to sell them to you.
I've attached pictures of the clips from my 73.

Peter,
The clips in the photo are from my 73, not the 72 parts car. I cannot sell these as I will need them in my restoration. Remind me.. do you have a 72 or a 73... they are different.

Dennis,
My car is 72.
Peter, I thought you had a 72. The clips I showed you in the picture are from my 73. I will need those.
I will be visiting the car this afternoon and will inspect it for the clips you need and advise if I have them.
Thanks!

Big,
The trunk lock bezel has sold. I may or may not still have the license plate holder. I sold the rear bumper and am fairly sure the plate holder went with it. :Dou:
I will confirm this afternoon and advise. I still have a good bit of the interior trim, seats, dash, steering column. Let me know if you're interested in any of that and I can get you pictures.
Thanks!

I inspected the car and found that the lic. plate holder did go with the bumper. However, I have two 69 Chevy Impalas... and I think you will find they are the same. I've got two of those if you are interested. I can let you have them for $15.00 each plus shipping.
Let me know if you're interested.

Please note that there is a differance between the 73 emblems compared to the other years
It's possible that the Centurion emblems are the same and that only the 455 emblems differ
This has to do with the altered contour of our fenders
I have read this someware on this site but i can't remember witch thread
73 Centurion

The Centurion emblems are the same. It's the 455 emblems that are unique. All Centurions came with a 455 in 71 and 72 and they didn't have a 455 emblem.
The base engine in 73 was the 4bbl 350. The 455 was an option so they made up badges to show which cars had the big engine. Because of the curve of the fenders they didn't use the more common 455 emblem from the GS/Skylark. They made up a special 455 badge that allowed the 455 to be vertical without a gap behind it.
Here's a great picture of the emblem from Per's beautiful 73.
